hp service leaves a lot to be desired: hp pavilion dv7 review
hp notebooks are some of the most stylish and affordable notebooks around. the hp pavilion dv7 notebook with the new core i7 processor is a very powerful computer and comes at a great price. hp service is some of the most troublesome experiences this writer has ever had. upon receiving my new dv7 notebook i noticed that there were scratches in the display. now to be fair these scratches were very minor one 2 inch long scratch visible when the screen is off and some faint scratches that looked like the screen had been hit with fine sandpaper. these scratches are not visible when the computer is running and do not affect the viewing. i called hp immediately after unpacking the notebook and was greeted by a service technician who responded by saying that i needed to ship the notebook back to hp and it would be fixed in 3 to 4 weeks. i explained how this was not acceptable and was given another number to call. i called the second number and was immediately offered a refund. i explained that i did not want a refund and that i wanted a notebook. i was put on hold for over 30 minutes and then was disconnected. i called again the next day and was disconnected again after being put on hold. i offered to pay the extra money for features on a “ready to ship” version of the same computer each time and got nothing put hold time and hang ups. to be fair this notebook performs well and is a great notebook. i would just take into consideration that for the discount over other brands that the user is going to have to put up with inferior service. i have given the hp dv7 a thorough workout for 60 days now and it is a great notebook. hp need to bring their service quality up to the same standards as their products.
